The project "AdriaPAN Secretariat"
A major objective for the implementation of the network and AdriaPAN been achieved thanks to the "AdriaPAN Secretariat" presented by AMP Tower of Cerrano, in collaboration with the AMP Miramare, within the call "2nd Call for Small Grant Projects for Mediter-ranean MPAs for 2012-2013 "sponsored by MedPAN and sponsored by Fonds Français pour l'Environnement Mondial, Prince Albert II of Monaco and the MAVA Foundation. The project "AdriaPAN Secretariat" was selected as the winning proposal among 52 competitors.

MEDPAN

MedPAN: successful cooperation in the Mediterranean

The Mediterranean hosts several endangered species and ecosystems, and is ecologically vulnerable, having been subjected for years to growing human pressure.
Since 1990, MedPAN is the Network of Managers of Marine Protected Areas in the Mediterranean.
The network aims at easing contacts between MPAs, giving them support in management activities. It successfully promotes and implements cooperation programmes and strategies, improving MPAs effectiveness.

ADRIAPAN

AdriaPAN: a bottom-up network in the Adriatic Sea
AdriaPAN, the Adriatic Protected Areas Network, is a bottom-up initiative, started by 2 Italian marine protected areas, Miramare and Torre del Cerrano.
The aim of the network is to make contacts between Protected Areas in the Adriatic easier, to improve their partnership effectiveness, both in management and planning activities.
AdriaPAN is a growing network with a great potential for joining efforts in environmental protection, sustainable development.
10 Italian Protected Areas, both marine and coastal, initially signed the Cerrano Charter, the founding act of AdriaPAN. Now the number has increased. It counts about 40 members from all countries bordering the Adriatic Sea, and more than 30 associated organizations (institutions, NGOs, businesses, etc.) interested in collaborating on AdriaPAN initiatives.
Joining the network is free and the only requirement is to officially subscribe the Cerrano Charter, to achieve the mission herein defined.

10 YEARS OF ADRIAPAN – PAST AND FUTURE

The network of Adriatic marine and coastal protected areas, AdriaPAN-Adriatic Protected Areas Network, celebrated the tenth anniversary of its foundation last Wednesday, September 26th in San Benedetto del Tronto, hosted by the Sentina Nature Reserve, with the event “10 years of AdriaPAN, past and future”. The event was attended by representatives of the marine and coastal protected areas of the Adriatic basin, representatives of the Abruzzo Region and the Adriatic Ionian Initiative and members of local and national associations.
