European Maritime Day

European Maritime Day is the annual meeting point for Europe’s maritime community to network, discuss and forge joint action.

At the heart of European Maritime Day is a 2-day conference that will be held on 18-19 May 2017 in Poole (Dorset, UK). High-level sessions and stakeholder workshops with EU experts are scheduled to take place.

Second International Conference on Maritime Spatial Planning

DG MARE and IOC UNESCO IOC are jointly organising the 2nd International Conference on Marine/Maritime Spatial Planning from 15 - 17 March 2017 at UNESCO Headquartersin Paris. Given the rising international interest in Maritime Spatial Planning, it is time to take stock of the latest developments and to discuss on how to achieve and accelerate successful MSP worldwide.

Marine Protected Areas progress in the Mediterranean but efforts must be boosted.

Today, 7.14% (179,798 km2) of the Mediterranean Sea is placed under a protection status, this is what emerges from the first analyzes to report on the 2016 status of the Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas – that will contribute to a report published every four years by MedPAN and RAC / SPA in collaboration with many partners. This report is based on the 2016 update of MAPAMED[1], the database of sites of interest for the conservation of the marine environment in the Mediterranean Sea.

On 7 February 2017, the members of the ADRION Monitoring Committee met in Brussels to adopt further steps to ensure a smooth programme implementation. The measures refer to the programme support to activities and last mile information addressed to potential and final beneficiaries in their home countries and procedure aimed at ruling some relations between the programme and potential beneficiaries.
